Life as we know it has changed, activities we took for granted like simply going to work, dropping the kids off to school, going to the gym for a workout, meeting friends for a coffee, going to pub, or just simply visiting family have been removed from our daily routines. With all the uncertainty and sense of unease filtering through as we watch the escalation of COVID19 it is all too easy for your motivation to train, or be active, to completely drop off, I know my motivation is through the floor and to be honest it’s not surprising.
With our regular routines thrown out of whack and lots of uncertainty ahead, many of us are apprehensive, worried and uneasy about the future, taking things simply day by day, which is creating havoc with our ability to maintain motivation. Coupled with the fact that all of our club training sessions have been cancelled and numerous events we had targeted as goal races have been postponed or cancelled, it’s no wonder our motivation to train has slipped from our grasp.
But, we can create new routines, and find a new daily life, no matter where we are and the COVID19 restrictions imposed on us including social distancing and self-isolation, we need to remain positive and find new ways of working out. So I have launched a FREE Selfie Isolation Challenge, a bit tongue in cheek, but it’s simply your commitment to yourself to complete at least 30 minutes of a fitness activity every day whilst observing your duty to socially distance yourself from others in the process.
The emphasis of this challenge is on FUN and movement, no targets, no tracker, just do what you can when you can, based on your own situation and options available to you at home or in the outdoors. You can complete sessions posted in our private Facebook group or do your own thing. Involve your family and your friends (from a distance) or not, the choice is yours.
There is so much we can do at home to ensure we are remaining fit and healthy, join the challenge and we will try to keep you motivated with tips and challenges over the next few weeks to help not only keep you active but also entertained and hopefully put a smile on your face and reduce your anxiety and unease during this time of uncertainty.
