Katrina Matthews, British Army Physiotherapist and BMC-Vifit athlete has blazed a trail in triathlon since taking up the sport just a few years ago. As an amateur she excelled quickly with numerous titles and wins under her belt. She joined the professional ranks of triathlon in 2019 a little earlier than even she expected after a superb performance at Challenge Gran Canaria finishing as 1st Amateur and 2nd overall on the day.
Jumping right in and embracing life as a professional triathlete she has already proven herself as one to watch. Her debut IRONMAN in Australia saw her take 4th place with a sub nine hour finish in a time of eight hours fifty three minutes on the back of her podium finishes in Staffordshire, Finland and Weymouth IM 70.3 races and a 16th place finish at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Nice last year.
The ETU Elite Middle Distance Champion of 2019 added a British National Cycling title to her trophy cabinet last week winning the 100 mile TT in a time of 3:55:22.
With a positive can do attitude, her passion for her profession as both an athlete and physiotherapist shine through in this episode. She has set some lofty goals for herself in the past and exceeded them, her goals for 2021 and beyond are well within her reach, we can expect to see a lot more from Katrina Matthews in the future as she continues to excel in her sport.
